F4 British Championship
March 2016 – We met with Ford’s representatives and filmed at Rockingham Motor Speedway. Not only did we create a 2D season launch trailer with drone footage but we did an Infinite Pixel first and mounted the Ricoh Theta 360° camera to an F4 racing car!
January 2017 – The Autosport Show was the venue for our next meeting! Again we met the Ford Team and discussed the production of a high end immersive 360° video experience.
March 2017 – The next stage was Donington Park. We filmed Ford’s latest 2D season launch trailer and mounted the Samsung Gear 360° camera to an F4 car. For effect we made a mock up podium scene with Billy Monger winning, but unfortunately when the British F4 Championships returned to Donington a couple of months later, there was a devastating crash involving Billy and Patrick Pasma. To make this a truly immersive experience we captured in 360°, the journey a driver takes leading up to the big race. For these epic shots we used the GoPro Omni 360° camera.
Present Day – This 360° experience has been such a success that Ford are now using our video at numerous major racing events. It’s been seen by key figures within the motorsport world.
Alex Battipaglia, Championship Press Officer who has been at the forefront of introducing 360° videos into the motorsport world had this to say:
“What sets Infinite Pixel apart is their willingness to push boundaries in the pursuit of excellence, just as Ford MSA Formula does. Drawing on Infinite Pixel’s expertise with 360 degree camera technology, we were able to achieve a world first for junior single-seat racing by being the first series to provide stakeholders with a previously unseen view of Ford MSA Formula and FIA F4.”
